DeepBlue was founded by Dr. James R. Rivet, an educator, consultant, and researcher with over 30 years of experience supporting children, families, and educational organizations. A former classroom teacher with advanced degrees in Curriculum & Instruction and Education from the University of Southern California (U.S.C.), Dr. Rivet brings both academic depth and practical insight to his work with families.

In addition to teaching graduate-level education courses as an adjunct professor, Dr. Rivet has taught across grades K–12 in the San Diego Unified School District and has worked extensively in education technology, curriculum development, and consulting. He has served on advisory committees and speaks nationally on educational innovation, learning design, and child development, with a focus on helping children thrive academically while maintaining emotional balance and well-being.

At the heart of Dr. Rivet’s work is the belief that calm structure creates the best conditions for growth. He is deeply committed to helping families create routines, environments, and systems that support the whole child—not only as a student, but as a developing human being in need of consistency, understanding, and encouragement. His approach blends research, lived parenting experience, and decades of consulting to provide families with clear, grounded guidance during times of transition and growth.

Dr. Rivet offers in-home and virtual consulting for families with children from birth through young adulthood, providing thoughtful, individualized support that brings clarity, confidence, and calm to the home.

Approach

With a compassionate and thoughtful approach, Dr. Rivet helps families identify where communication and structure have broken down—and how to rebuild with positivity, confidence, and calm. The outcome is a personalized action plan that supports not just the student’s success, but the well-being of the entire family. After working closely with hundreds of families, Dr. Rivet has expanded his services to support larger groups, using the same proven methodology.

When he’s not guiding families from chaos to calm, James enjoys time with his own family, swimming at La Jolla Cove, playing pickleball, sailing, traveling, reading and writing.
